Hip Hop Holi

Whoa folks... this looks like a new ground for me now... dats coz I havent been here for quite a while now. Neways, I am here because there are flurry of thoughts being pushed down from my brain to my fingers, as I type this, and the brain wants me to pen down some memories bout the colorful, exuberant, paint-me-if-u-can festival called Holi.

I, like anyone else, enjoyed this festival as a kid. So, get ready to get teleported, as in, lets go back into the annals of our childhood days...
YOU THERE ALREADY... OKIE... THERE YOU ARE...

Like all festivals, bothering what the festival was all about, we are more inclined to 'with whom am I gonna enjoy' the festival with. As a kid, the hues of colors always took me to a floating, mass-less and friction-free environment where I would be soaring with each color, touching them, feeling their brightness and playing spiritfully. The excitement would always start with checking the date when Holi would fall that year... and the countdown begins... along with the countdown, begins the PLAN... which colors would I get? how many packets? water baloons... water colors... I would also start imagining how my friends would look when I smear different colors on them. I would smile to myself on seeing their funny faces :) The excitement reaches the peek when I tag along with my Dad to get the colors for Holi. I would carry a large bag keeping in mind how many packets I need for myself. My Dad knows the bag is lil too much oversized for some packets of colors, but he doesnt resent to my carrying the oversized bag :) We reach the market and see lots of colorful stalls, each stall having a display of the brightest colors. My Dad takes me to one of the stall and I start my mission of collecting my ammunition for the color attack. I collect some fifty large packets of color and give an expression of 'thats-all-I-need' to my Dad. He tries to explain me, kinda rationalise, but I give a 'Why-should-I-settle-for -less?' kinda look. I also fold my hands and start looking away, in order to express my resent. He, pats me on my shoulder, ruffles my hair and gives me a smile. I understand the expression and start jumping taking the fifty packets of color along. He points at the water baloons and asks how many I need? I pick up ten packets and also select my 'pichkaari', my vital weapon. After having finished, I tell him that I am done collecting my share and we need to take colors for sisters as well :) [Read: What I actually meant was "These are ONLY my colors and I wont let anyone have a touch of this atleast :) "]I go back home and hide my colors under that bed of mine. I keep them in a remote corner so that nobody would easily know where they were. I cant get enough sleep thinking of all the fun the next day. My Mom gives me the dinner call, but I say I need to sleep early to get up early. She, like all mothers, playfully makes me eat and sensing my excitement, puts me early to sleep.
[Now, lemme share a little secret... maybe no one has ever known this... Everyday before I sleep, I used to pray God to keep everyone happy. But the secret part was... my prayers also contained "please dont lemme have ghost stories tonight", "please don't let bhoot come to me". :) :) :)
But, that day, I also prayed God "Please finish the night soon and let the day begin very very early tomorrow, so that I can play Holi :)"]

As I try to close my eyes, I can only see colors around and I again get that 'floating-in-the-air' feeling. I get excited and sleep. I get up early morning, earlier than usual. I wake up my Mom. Mom says, its only 4 a.m and I need to get back to sleep. I go back to the bed again, try not to sleep and let my imagination roll over :) I turn sides, cover the blanket, take my toy torch inside the blanket and switch it on, I make gestures with my hands and project them on the wall... My antics continue till the time it is 6 a.m. and I get up and wake my sisters up, shouting aloud "Happy Holi ". I, then, pull up my trunk and start digging out my dresses to find a suitable one for Holi. My Mom helps me out in picking a dress... a grey pant and a green tee . I looked at the dress and said I wanted a white colored dress. My Sister tries to explain, but in vain. She senses my excitement and lets me wear the new white tee. ROFL. I pick up a new tee for Holi, and of all the colors, I pick white :) Mom gives me breakfast, but I am too busy to go out and play. I go out on the streets and see nobody out there. I come back sad and wait for sometime, thinking why people arent out on the streets playing Holi. After a few minutes, I collect my bag again. I carefully open a green colored packet, go to my Dad, and apply the entire packet of color on his face, even as he was reading the newspaper sipping tea... He joyfully applies the color back to me. I rush back to the mirror to see how I look... I feel so happy. I go to Mom and my Sisters and repeat what I did with Dad :)
Yes, Holi has begun! How wonderful the world looks... Its all colorful... each color depicting its own virtues.... Go out and Play !!! Unlock the kid in YOU...

Internet Blunders... Caught 'Em All :)

Slashing Da Slashes
Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the British computer scientist credited with creating the World Wide Web in 1989, doesn't seem like a man who has many regrets. But he admitted earlier this month at a symposium in Washington that his decision to include those annoying forward slashes in http addresses was made on a whim. If he could change one thing about the Internet now, he says, he would slash the slashes, which are completely unnecessary.
An Apple Premiere
Two years ago, Apple posted for sale on iTunes what it thought was the season premiere of the sci-fi TV show Stargate Atlantis. The episode happened to be the show's fourth installment, however, which hadn't yet aired. The accidental leak occurred because of a mix-up over the episode's production and broadcast numbers. Apple removed the episode 24 hours later, but by that point, peer-to-peer networks were offering it to their users for free. To make amends, Apple gave customers who mistakenly bought the episode an iTunes credit of $2.
Google Gets Spammed
Google's spam-fighting system is apparently too good. A couple of years ago, Google accidentally mistook the company's own Custom Search Blog as spam. The Google blogging team in charge of updating the website didn't notice the warning messages indicating that the blog would be deleted if the user didn't clarify that it wasn't spam. When the blog was automatically deleted, another Web user took over the domain name for the site. The Google bloggers initially suspected an external hack job, but then they realized what had gone wrong. They got the domain name back — and then presumably blogged about the whole ordeal.
Game Over... 18 yrs :)
The box for Capcom's Killer7 video game said it all: "Action-packed thriller." Anyone who went to the game's official website, listed on the box as www.killer7.com, would have found a totally different kind of thriller, though. That URL belonged to a hard-core-porn site. The game's site should have been listed as www.killer-7.com.
Via-Comedy
The media behemoth Viacom has engaged in numerous battles with YouTube over copyright infringement over the years. But two years ago, Viacom ended up in the embarrassing position of mistakenly bringing to light the fact that it had committed some copyright infringement of its own. When Viacom demanded that YouTube remove a clip of a North Carolina politician's campaign commercial from a VH1 program called Web Junk 2.0, it emerged that VH1 hadn't obtained permission to use the clip in the first place. The politician, Christopher Knight, was clearly miffed, summing up the situation thusly: "Folks, this is, as we say down here in the South, 'bass-ackwards.' " Thankfully for Knight, Viacom backed down, and YouTube reinstated the video.
You 've Got (More Than) Mail
In 2006, AOL voluntarily released the search data of 650,000 of its users over a three-month period — some 20 million Web queries in total. Although the AOL user name had been changed to a random ID number, one could analyze all the searches done by a single user and deduce who the person was. Understandably, the online community was outraged, and AOL acted swiftly, removing the data and issuing apologetic press releases.

"This was a screw-up, and we're angry and upset about it," spokesman Andrew Weinstein said in one rather honest missive.

How Longz Da Worm
On Nov. 2, 1988, Robert Morris, a Cornell computer-science graduate student, wrote an experimental program that he injected into the Internet. It became the computer world's first "worm." Although the student's intentions were not necessarily nefarious — he was testing how large the Internet actually was — the worm wreaked havoc online, rendering about 600,000 computers unusable. Morris was convicted of violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and sentenced to three years of probation, 400 hours of community service and $10,000 fine. He now works for MIT.
Da Wrong Script
Earlier this week, about a million Swedish Internet sites went down for an hour when routine maintenance caused disruption to every single .se address (the country's domain). The problem was caused by an "incorrectly configured script" in an update of the .se domain. Imagine if this would have happened to the .com domain, taking down tens of millions of websites around the planet. It probably wouldn't have stopped the world from turning on its axis, but it may have come pretty close.

Ring-a Ring-a Roses

"Ring-a Ring-a roses,
Pocket full of posies.
Haisha, Huisha.
We all fall down  "

Hmmm...dis picturises in me tweeny lil hands reaching out for each other , forming a concentric circle.. trying to move in a round about fashion.. and fallin down in glory as the last line rhymes...yeah, you are into a "all-is-happy-in-my-world" phase of life called childhood... and who doesnt miss it badly... Amidst the mundane corporate deadlines, reportings, meetings, strategy formulation crap things... I realised I lost my childhood... I could no more jump in joy when i get happy...no more yearn for that favourite toffee of mine...no more raise my eyebrows in unison when i got a larger share of cookies than my sister...I had far behind left the child in me. I then realised its hightime I revive it, go back into it and enjoy my childhood... Now, how do we reach to that state of mind... I didnt have any access to a time machine which cud land me back into my kiddo days... neither I have any mysterious powers to go back into time... This thought landed me in troubled waters and I was cursing why I kept on thinkin while walking down the road... then i saw a kid in a school uniform, with that unkept hair.. ruffled shirt... water bottle rounded around the neck... and he was splashing in the muddy water and laughing his heart out...I saw this for a moment and without a thought.. joined the kid in fiddling with the dirty water and splashes... Whoa.. dat was so so fun... I felt like playin there all day long...how frenzy was the feeling...The kid in me and the kid beside me then started to part ways and I noticed my trousers had that "isse chahiye TIDE ki dhulaai kinda look".. but I giggled and went on... Over dinner that evening, I pondered how relaxed I was coz I had put aside all my tensions for a while and I was a kid for sometime that evening... I woke up the next day with something in mind...I had decided to spend 4 hours of my weekends teaching children in an orphanage... the feeling of being amidst children was kicking...Thanx to my colleague R for having convivinced the governing body members of the Orphanage :) It was structured more of a play school kinda...I entered the classroom and I felt as if I was entering my KG 1 classroom at Sacred Heart School, my alma mater, I was awe struck by the sudden shift in my personae...I was among 30 odd five year olds...The twinkle in their eyes showed me innocence, purity, joyful, naughty, kiddish and above all pure love. I felt moist in my eyes... coz I had gone back to my schooldays.. the days of bindaasss-rehne ka... :) In bout 20 mins I was amongst some chirpy-cute -lings...Pooja, Amu (actually Ramu), Icheeta (Ishita), Raghu, Seenu, Jayant, Razia... I spent two hours wid them.. completely engrossed and completely fun-filled...
This is hw i rejuvenate my childhood :) How bout you???

How Much I Wish...

"I m from the ATS ..."

This statement was enough to shudder any anti social dirt in my country... Being the rungs alongwith some select 35 odd best spartans from whole of the state meant pride with sense of responsibility, and a pledge to choke out all the filthy dirt from my land. We did not believe in much of peace making policies... the rule was very simple for us...SHOOT TO DEATH... We implememted many brutal forms of torture and were seen as the worst side of Encounter Specialists...sometimes getting engaged in public shootings and thus constantly had a tiff with the Human Rights Commission... but like spartans....we had no mercy for the anti-social elements and we breathed success as we gradually brought the crime rate down to 70% in Mumbai... Combat operations, gureilla warfare, encounters... we took every single project with adventure with a deep sense of patriotism raging in our souls...Personal life was on the rocks for us...But still we managed to keep things intact because of the constant love showered by our loved ones and their understanding of our raw passion towards eliminating crime from the society...

November 26th: The overhead fan served chill and I felt lil shiver on my feet and thus pulled the blanket over them... buzzzz.... my mobile started to ring... it was an unknown number... I received the call and scribbled something on the cigarette pack cover lying nearby... Hushhh... my day had started... started at 3.00 a.m... the call was from my informer Y about a suspect terrorist named H... I threw myself out of my bed and got ready in a flash...after 27 mins...I found myself taking shelter in one slum near Churchgate... the night was raring to wake up and the street lamp wore a lazy look... I had a team of 5 for the Operation DECOD (lemme tell you...My operation names are usually absurd...this time it was merely the starting letters of names of my team involved for this operation) ... After bearing grunt of some creatures similar to mosquitoes, we caught sight of H...H was unassumingly hard to digest if one were to opine by looks... H was clad in jeans and some grey colored tee... had a large hand bag ... later discovered they were grenades and a pistol inside... a slight movement irked H and he started running for cover and meanwhile sensed being followed... in a whisk H took aide of a car parked nearby... D and O took no time to take guard and in a jiffy E was seen grappling H’s neck….uff…H was caught… that was pretty fast…. We rushed to the ATS division and took H under strict vigil and custody to initiate interrogations. It was 5 a.m and I thought of going back to my apartment and have rest for a lil while…but destiny had something else in store for me…I received a call from V, one of my old pal… He told he was at the CST and wanted me to go and meet him there… I was feeling lil dizzy, but I had to push myself and go ahead to meet V… V had just then arrived and was waiting for me… The station was already buzzing and I saw a few destitutes lying on the floor… I looked at them and thought how insecure their lives were…Unlike us… V had some work in the city and thus had come for a few days…I wanted to spend some time with V and thus authoritatively took V to my apartment… At 8 a.m I was checking my mails and was happy to find K’s mail… K, my brother, had some vacations and thus he planned to get mom along with him to Mumbai for a while… and they were to arrive after two days… I was happy that I could feel home for a few days… I was all happy that day… a few of our operations had bore fruit and we were at the verge of breaking into an important case… My senior called me and appreciated my efforts for the same and also hinted bout my possible shift to a higher role of responsibility… I was elated…… At the fag end of the day I realized the day was very good for me… I decided to pamper myself for the same by partying along with V… I reached Andheri and hopped out of my Safari to reach to the other end of the road to pick some roasted chicken from my favourite food chain and also to pick V from the venue… I started to cross the road…busy Bombay roads…as usual… Just then I saw a crowd… on reaching near the crowd I saw pool of blood and saw someone lying there dead… I was curious to know who it was and went near the body… I was surprised to see V there… No… V wasn’t the person who was dead… The person was definitely known to V and thus V was wailing and helpless amidst the pool of blood. I rushed to V and tried to console him… V wudnt listen to me kept on sobbing…. Beside lie a TAG HUEUR watch and it was similar to that of mine… I picked it up and looked at the body… The face wasn’t worth recognizing as it was disfigured… the shirt was almost torn and it was all in blood red… I then sat beside V and again tried to drag him from there…but he wudnt listen to me… I tried calling up my support team, but the guy couldn’t listen my voice… maybe because of the commotion….I tried cordoning off the area but even the people paid no heed to me… I then realized the dead body was clad in a jeans much similar to that of mine….I went near the body and tried recognizing… much to my disbelief… the person looked like me… I wondered about the level of similarity and on close observation… I realized the guy had a wallet which was the same one which I was carrying….Much to my horror I realized the body was mine… and what does that mean…. Was I DEAD? I sat there in a chill…. I remember crossing the road… but did something hit me while I was crossing the road…I was just 32 and I AM NO MORE… I had a family… I had some dreams… some aspirations… all gone to dust… But why was I killed… Had I done anything wrong to someone… I was by large the most honest officer… Is flushing out criminals from my land a wrong thing… Was there something called Karma … Hours later I heard news of terror strikes in Mumbai….And, in a flick, my hand reached my gun… But was I alive anymore?…. How much I wish I were alive…. Alive to have fought with terror…. My Mumbai is bleeding and needs me….But I had already bled to death….

Lonely...

I often wonder about the rapid fragments of human imaginations... of the various destinations they gently and delightfully lead to...suddenly realising that it was just a mere figment of  imagination... of human mind and its wanderings...Perhaps even the human being, the most brilliant creation of God, can not give a definite shape to a human mind's wandering soul...

Its a gloomy-yet-rainy day here and this H20 filled outburst of nature reminds me that I am lonely in a hustle-bustle crowd of people... often in the journey of realising your dreams..chasing ambitions... we tend to geographically part from our loved ones... that geographical separation over a longer period of time tends to make the human mind wander aimlessly in a closed maze of boxes... when one goal is obtained...the key to the next is lost... when u find the key to the next door... the lock is changed... this continuous struggle for professional objectives often tend to subside your emotional links...

Water Water Everywhere but I want loads of Coke to drink...

Hello Freakies!!!

Well, the monsoon is sheepishly smiling over Dilli after having had a hearty laugh over the western and southern geographies of India. What does the rain flash on our memories except that "it's raining cats n dogs" one-liner???

The rain reminds me of the school children
who wear their flashy raincoats and paddle up their way to schools

The rain reminiscences me of those teeny weeny shoes
which dribble here n there to hit the soccer ball

The rain reminds me of that cold shiver to which
my lil fingers would grip my sis' firm hands...

The rain reminds me of a lil johnny religiously praying GOD to end the rain
so that he could go out and play his 'most possessed' cricket

The rain reminds me of those upper cased 'home work' books of my schoolbag
which would be intentionally drenched to escape home work

The rain cues me of the mud stained clothes
which would be a result of a n aggressive dirt bicycle race

The rain reminds me of the smell...
the smell of the soil which is so so nostalgic... so close to my heart...

Bang-ALLURE and new

Bangalore, 8 Feb 2006:::

India's silicon hub Bangalore is all set to become the country's first tech city to be unwired with WiMax technology providing seamless integrated digital connectivity.Thru da latest technologies in convergence ,it is moving from Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) to WiMax (worldwide interoperability for microwave access) for providing last mile wireless broadband access in place of cable and DSL (digital signal link). The Rs.200-million project covering the city and its peripheral areas will be executed by K-BITS (Karnataka Biotechnology & Information Technology Society), a nodal agency of the IT department, under the supervision of IIIT-B (Indian Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore) .To achieve economies of scale and greater reach in terms of density, a flexible tariff will be reached for providing the last-mile connectivity. Though WiMax is not a technology per se, the term is used to certify the high-tech equipment that meets the IEEE 802.16 standard, set by WiMax Forum for conformity and interoperability. It is a notch above Wi-Fi, whose equipment is based on 802.11 standard and used for wireless local area networks (WLAN).

So, a new revolution yet to rock India....
